Personal Notes on Configuring Windows in 2025

Following procedures worked fine in Feb. 2025 in my laptop.

OOBE/BypassNRO: Setup without Microsoft Account in 2025

1. In the FIRST SCREEN, Shift+F10 to open command prompt
2. Run oobe\bypassnro

Disable Bing Search in Start Menu

Edit following registry keys to DWORD:0 in regedit.
I had to make new ones because they did not exist.
They took effect immediately after all keys are set even without reboot.
  • BingSearchEnabled
  • AllowSearchToUseLocation
  • CortanaConsent

Disable Search and Widget in Task Bar

Available in Settings -> Personal Settings.

Disable Unnecessary Startup Apps

  • Settings -> Apps -> Startup
  • Task Manager

Hide Recent files in Start Menu

Settings->Personalization->Start

Disable Sticky Key Shortcut (Shift 5-times Popup

Settings->Keyboard->Sticky Keys
Set all toggle buttons to disabled
